Rachel Prince joins the Coral Queen for the holiday of a lifetime, accompanied by her parents and octogenarian friend, Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe.
Brendan Prince is asked to stand-in and take a Sunday church service which ends in tragedy. Shockwaves run through the ship when a nun belonging to an exclusive religious party collapses and dies. Initially, it appears the young woman died from natural causes. Rachel's best friend Sarah Bradshaw (cruise ship nurse) wants to believe this is the case, if only to keep Rachel out of trouble.
